Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia was accused of calling him the smear campaign and demoliton job to punish the prosecutor who, if investigated, was only one of the culprits of these and was attacked by Smartmatic because of people and companies linked to the former machinery company used by the Philippines in the elections.
Chairman Garcia and the staff of COMELEC conducted a press conference today in which they gave details of the deposit slips, addresses, companies and people involved in the transactions that were all connected to Smartmatic to undermine Chairmen Garcia’s credibility.
Chairman Garcia has said that if everyone sitting from the president to the barangay officials is in trouble with the issue, they will all be out of service even if the statement is not true.
It can be seen in the presentation at the press conference that Chairman Garcia has written two banks to which he has been linked. This shows that he wrote to the bank and replied to the banks that they had no customers who were named after Chairman Garcia.
The issues spread by people who have been in contact with Comelec chairman are that in fact others won bidding on the machinery that will be used in the 2025 elections. Another reason is in the very many issues related to Smartmatic especially the money laundering involving the former Comelec Chief Andres Bautista. The machines that will be used in the 2025 election will be approved and given by Comelec to Miru Systems.
